ABSTRACT
Hospital information management system is a comprehensive and integrated information system designed to manage all the aspects of hospital operations such as medical, administrative, and financial aspect of the corresponding service processing. Information management system in hospitals has been a real task to deal with over the years. Ebonyi state university teaching hospital handles information manually and this mode leads to inefficiency of information, misappropriation and loss of vital information of the hospital. This problems leads to the development of computerize information management system. This computerized Hospital information Management system tends to solve the problem of poor information management in Ebonyi state university teaching hospital which includes registration of patients, storing their details into the system, and also computerized billing in the pharmacy, and labs. This computerized hospital information management system has the ability to give a unique id for every patient and stores the details of every patient and the staff automatically. User can search availability of a doctor and the details of a patient using the id. The Hospital information Management System can be entered using a username and password. It is accessible either by an administrator or receptionist. Only they can add data into the database. The data can be retrieved easily. The interface is very user-friendly. The methodology that will be used to solve this problem of poor management in Ebonyi state university teaching hospital is top down methodology it is used because it breakdown the programming effort of a software design into smaller modules called sub-system which can be further broken down into program modules during the design stages, when implemented the hospital will be able to manage their information efficiently and it will also reduce the stress of the nurses. This project will be implemented using Visual basic 6.0 for the complete design of the interface and Microsoft Access for the database.
